About this role

Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the Human Resources function. Driving the people related components of our MAGNT Strategic Plan, within our vision and values by:

supporting our Executive and Board to execute MAGNT’s vision and strategy, while concurrently maintaining a commitment to a People-First Workplace Culture.
driving effective and context relevant practice across the full spectrum of Employment Lifecycle activities, including Industrial Relations and Work Health & Safety (WHS) functions.
driving commercial acumen across MAGNT people practices and drive and implement a Workforce Strategy to anticipate MAGNT resourcing.
leading, developing and nurturing a small team to provide professional support, advice and guidance to staff and management.

What we offer

We are paying a market competitive base salary plus super, with free on-site staff parking.

Located on beautiful Larrakia Country at Bullocky Point and set in a scenic location overlooking the Arafura Sea, our purpose-built museum and art gallery, includes an on-site café and gift shop, both offering staff discounts.

Relocation expenses will be on offer if the preferred candidate is intrastate/interstate.

Degree in Human Resource or Business Management or significant experience as a Senior Manager in a high functioning HR Department overseeing a varied and multiskilled workforce.*

Strong level of knowledge and extensive experience and contemporary knowledge in HR practices including:
• understanding of Australian Employment law.

• understanding of legislation relevant to the Australian HR landscape including industrial relations and Workers’ Compensation and WHS.

• understanding of employee relations, talent acquisition fundamentals, performance management, professional development and training principles.

Negotiation skills with a demonstrated capacity to effectively resolve matters in a timely and collaborative manner.*

High level verbal and written communication, as well as discretion and sensitivity in dealing with sensitive or difficult information, with a proven ability to write complex reports, policy and Board papers and other correspondence.*

Proven ability to provide strategic leadership to staff at all levels, with the ability to articulate the corporate vision and values.*

Demonstrated experience in the management of WHS and Risk Management. *

Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, set priorities and work under pressure to meet conflicting deadlines.*

Demonstrated ability to show initiative and a focus on continued improvement.*

Highly developed communication and networking skills at the institutional, government and community levels.*

High level of integrity and confidentiality.*
